Developing Your Policy - Codes of Practice and Guidelines

Using all the information collated and used in the drafting of the Policy Statement, list the tasks which require to be undertaken in the development and drafting of Codes of Practice and or Guidelines.

- Decide which areas require to be considered separately e.g. are the provisions for volunteers different to that of employees? Do differing activities have differing needs?
- after identifying and agreeing the primary areas, what are the main issues and problems to be address.
- are there existing guidelines that could be amended or developed, or incorporated into your equal opportunities policy?
- make a list of what needs to be done, and how it is to be undertaken, e.g. arrangements for consultation and revisions, and agree a timetable for these actions.
- decide who will draft the Codes of Practice or Guidelines.

The Codes of Practice and or Guidelines will then need drawing together into a structured document.

FINALLY the Planning Group agrees the Codes of Practice and or Guidelines providing for the full Equal Opportunities Policy to be presented to the Management Committee for adoption.
