Equality North East

Launch of Equality Act guidance consultation

Between January and April 2010, the Commission will continue its consultation on our non-statutory guidance for the Equality Bill, which is due to become law in 2010. This guidance will be published before the Act is implemented and aims to help you understand the new Act and how current legislation will change.

We want to hear your views on the guidance produced so far. The first consultation will be on our employment non-statutory guidance and there will be versions for employers and employees. Our online consultation will be launched on 11 January 2010 and will run until 5 April 2010.

The second consultation will be on our services and public functions non-statutory guidance, with versions for both service providers and service users. The online consultation for this will be launched on 18 January 2010 and will run until 12 April 2010.

The final online consultation will be on education, again for both service providers and service users, and this will run from 25 January until 19 April 2010.

Between January and March, we will also consult with legal bodies on the statutory Codes of Practice covering services and public functions, equal pay and employment.

You will be able to access the non-statutory guidance consultations via the Equality Bill section on the EHRC's website.
