Dickinson Dees Strikes Gold!

Equality North East was delighted to present �The Equality Standard Gold Award� to Dickinson Dees, the region�s leading law firm, at their offices in Newcastle recently.

The firm�s Senior Partner, John Marshall, and HR Director, Theresa Wilde (pictured), accepted the award on behalf of the company.
Mr Marshall said: �We�re extremely proud to have been presented with this award. To be recognised for the work that we do in promoting equality and diversity is testament to the hard work the firm has put to investing in this important aspect of our business.�

Liz Reay Chief Executive of Equality North East who presented the award said: �I would like to congratulate Dickinson Dees who have shown themselves as an organisation that does truly embed equality and the Equality Standard Gold Award is the outward evidence of that.

�Those employers who recognise the importance of embedding equality are reaping the business benefits. Good equality practices ensure you attract and retain the best people and provide a fair and accessible service to all of your customers. In the current economic climate it is even more important that we maintain fair employment practices, those employers who do that are finding it makes good business sense.�

Jane Freeman the Senior HR Adviser at Dickinson Dees worked with Tricia Collins from Equality North East to ensure all of the company�s policies and practices supported the achievement of their aspirations to embed equality.

Jane said: �Completing the Standard gave us a fantastic opportunity to consolidate good equality and diversity practice across the firm. We have been able to use the Standard as a catalyst to create an action plan which will ensure that we carry on reviewing our policies, practices and projects to ensure continuous improvement.�
