Equality Standard : Case Studies
Baltic Training Services
Baltic Training Services are a dynamic and forward thinking organisation which has grown successfully and now supports a range of industries including, IT, Health & Social Care, Business, Industrial and Energy on a variety of training programmes including employer-based apprenticeships and pre-employment training throughout the North-East, North-West and Midlands.
The main reason Baltic Training decided to embark on The Equality Standard Gold Award journey was to demonstrate their commitment to equality and diversity. Their journey was challenging, most specifically an equal pay review but through their fantastic and informative support from Equality North East they successfully identified no equal pay issues.
When carrying out their self-assessment, Baltic realised that they had a lot in place but it helped identify areas for improvement. As a result of these improvements and of achieving the Standard, Baltic feel they are able to promote themselves more positively as an employer and training provider of choice. Furthermore, it has raised awareness of equality and diversity within the workplace, amongst learners and employers.
The impact that achieving the Equality Standard Gold Award has had on Baltic Training Services is one of increased confidence in all areas of Equality and Diversity. Employees feel proud to work for an organisation that is committed to equality and diversity, learners feel safe in the knowledge that they will be treated fairly whilst studying with Baltic Training Services, employers feel confident in the advice provided in relation to equality and diversity and partner agencies approve of the processes adopted during Quality Reviews of their organisation. All in all, achieving the standard has definitely boosted business.
