Employment law to be carried over ‘wherever practical’ after Brexit

The government has been urged to clarify exactly which employment rights will be protected when Britain leaves the EU, after saying law would only be carried over where it is “practical”.

In a written response to a series of questions on employment law, David Jones, minister of state at the Department for Exiting the European Union, said: “The government will bring forward legislation in the next session that, when enacted, will repeal the European Communities Act 1972 and ensure a functioning statute book on the day we leave the EU.
