Bus Driver Routeway - Go North East

You must be unemployed to take part on this course. This course is a unique opportunity for those who would like to train for a career in bus driving. If you are unemployed and claiming benefits you are eligible to apply for the course. Job Centre Plus, Gateshead College and Go North East have teamed up to provide a pre-recruitment training package to become a bus driver with the region’s leading public transport company. You will gain nationally recognised qualifications and will have a guaranteed interview with Go North East. The course will provide an excellent platform to prepare you for the recruitment process and how to become a PCV driver. A total of 20 days full time, Monday to Friday 9.30am until 4pm (8am start during 4 days driving activity.) Plus an opportunity to visit a Go North East depot. There are various awareness session dates throughout the year which are approximately monthly and if successful you will be invited on to The ‘Bus Driver Routeway’ course What you'll learn / gain skills in •Introduction to Customer Service •Job search skills •Interview skills •Health and safety •Equality and diversity •Problem solving in a public service environment •What’s it like to be a bus driver? •Practical activity - driving a vehicle Entry Requirements This course is for unemployed people claiming benefits. No formal entry requirements. However, all students will complete a short initial assessment and are required to gain entry level 3 for literacy and numeracy. Students must also provide eligibility evidence to meet European Social Funding regulations, including: •Employment status •DOB •Residency •National Insurance number

Inclusive Leadership 5 day programme – County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service

Please note: This is a closed course for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service. If you/your company would be interested in this course please use the contact details below. This is a modular programme which can be completed consecutively or spread out across a longer period. The initial two-day programme covers: - • Role of the Line Manager • Listening and Questioning Skills • Values and behaviours, aligning personal beliefs to the business • Processes of Stereotyping and how this manifests in the workplace • Impact of discrimination on individuals and the organisation • Equality Act 2010 • Change and the impact on individuals, teams and the wider business • Challenging inappropriate behaviours • Assertiveness skills • Having difficult conversations Additional modules that can be added to build a comprehensive and individualised development programme include: - • Principles of leadership and management (1 day) • Management behaviours and leadership styles (1 day) • Conflict and change management (1day) • Stakeholder engagement and relationship management (1 day) • Inspirational and ethical leadership (1 day) • Providing exceptional customer service (1 day) • Principles of business & how individual teams contribute to success (1 day) • Problem solving and handling conflict (1 day) • Effective meetings and recognising and handling conflict (1 day) • Planning and preparing for business presentations (1 day) • Events Management (1 day) • Financial and operations project management (1day) • Personal and professional development (1 day) • Project Management – Prince2 Foundation (1 day) • Mentoring Staff within The Workplace (1 day) • Coaching Techniques (1 day) • Inclusive Recruitment for Managers (1 day) • Business Continuity Planning (1 day) This modular approach allows a development programme designed around an individual’s job role or specific development needs, rather than a generic leadership and management programme. It provides a solid foundation for those who wish to progress on to accredited Leadership and Management programmes at level 3 and above.

Retail Academy (with Gateshead College and Intu)

You must be unemployed to be eligible for this course. This course provides an excellent opportunity for those who would like to work in either the retail or hospitality sector. If you are unemployed and claiming benefits you are eligible to apply for the course. Job Centre Plus, Gateshead College and intu have teamed up to provide a pre-recruitment training package to build your knowledge and skills in the retail or hospitality sector and to support you in to employment. You will gain nationally recognised qualifications, take part in a store tour either in a restaurant or retail store, have a mock interview and be well equipped for interviews. A total of 15 days full time, Monday to Friday 9.30am until 4pm. A visit to a retail store or restaurant and a mock interview are part of the course. There are various awareness session dates throughout the year which are approximately monthly and if successful you will be invited on to Retail Gold. What you'll learn / gain skills in •Introduction to Customer Service •Job search skills •Interview skills •Health and safety •Equality and diversity •Retail/ Hospitality Skills •Store or Restaurant Tour •Mock interview Entry Requirements This course is for unemployed people claiming benefits.
